Half star punch blades are used to create ventilation patterns on film in vacuum packaging. D2 tool steel (1.55% C, 12% Cr, 0.85% Mo, 0.9% V) offers both wear resistance and dimensional stability thanks to its high chromium content.

Heat Treatment Parameters: 1020-1040°C austenite transformation → oil quenching → 200-250°C tempering. This 3-stage process achieves HRC 58-60 hardness with adequate toughness balance.

Geometry: The triangle-shaped half star pattern creates optimal ventilation area in the film while maintaining package integrity. DIN 1.2379 equivalent material standard.

Coating: TiN (Titanium Nitride) PVD coating increases surface hardness to 2300 HV, reduces friction by 40%, and extends blade life 3-5x.
