Detailed Information

Pelletizer blades (die face cutters) are critical cutting components in plastic recycling lines that convert molten polymer into uniform, homogeneous small granules. Rotating at high speed over a die plate, they shear the plastic strands emerging from the extruder and quench them instantly with water, ensuring consistent pellet size.

What Is Underwater Pelletizing?

Underwater pelletizing is a high-efficiency granulation method in which molten plastic is cut by rotating blades the instant it exits the die holes and cooled immediately in a water chamber. Compared with conventional air-cooled systems, it produces rounder, more homogeneous pellets and is used with a wide range of polymers including PE, PP, PET and PS.

Compatible Machine Brands

  • EREMA: 46×24 mm and 46×13 mm — The world's most widely used plastic recycling system manufacturer; compatible with Intarema and Vacurema series.
  • GALA: 40.6×20.6 mm — A leading brand in high-capacity underwater pelletizing systems.
  • NGR: 44×20 mm and 44×13 mm — Austrian-origin, patented recycling technology; compatible with S:GRAN and P:REACT series.

Steel Types & Coating

  • D2 Tool Steel: High-chromium cold-work steel, HRC 58–62. Outstanding wear resistance delivers extended service life on standard and high-throughput production lines.
  • M2 HSS (High Speed Steel): HRC 62–64. Superior heat resistance prevents performance loss under heavy-duty conditions; provides the longest blade life.
  • Carbon Steel: HRC 58–60. A cost-effective, reliable option for standard applications.
  • TiN Coating (Titanium Nitride): Raises surface hardness to ~2300 HV, boosting wear resistance 3–5×; reduces friction and improves pellet quality. Applicable over D2 and M2 HSS substrates.

Applications

  • Plastic recycling plants — PE, PP, PET, PS pelletizing
  • Underwater pelletizing systems
  • Hot die face pelletizing
  • Plastic granule and compound production lines
  • Polymer extrusion line output pelletizing
