Detailed Information
Bottom knives work in pairs with top dish knives in circular slitting systems, operating on the shear cut principle. Two fundamental mounting types based on shaft installation:
Mounting Types
- Free-Running: Freely rotating type on the shaft. Rotated by the material. Preferred for low-torque and thin material applications.
- Self-Locking: Locked mounting on the shaft. Rotates together with the shaft. Required for high-torque and thick material applications.
Steel Types
- O1 Tool Steel: Oil-hardening cold work steel. Optimal cost-performance balance for standard slitting applications.
- D2 Tool Steel: High-chromium cold work steel. Superior performance for abrasive materials and long production runs.
- HSS (High Speed Steel): Maximum wear resistance and thermal stability for special applications.
Dimensioning
Bottom knives have four critical measurements:
- "A" — Outer Diameter: From 46mm to 150mm
- "B" — Inner Diameter: From 25mm to 120mm based on shaft diameter
- "Th" — Total Thickness: From 5mm to 20mm
- "C" — Cutting Edge Thickness: From 3.5mm to 17.5mm
